Emerge

Acrylic on wood.

From a scrap piece of wood found on a Hawaiian farm in Maui, to a breakthrough in my artistry, this piece plays with concept of identity, gender roles, disability, and expression. I enjoyed playing with black acrylic as a background, and using contrast to texturally represent the subject diagonally placed across the composition, adding motion.
